Here’s something that might encourage some of you to give contesting a go. The FMAC series is an FM only contest each month on 2m and 70cm, intended for beginners who only have FM radios. The FMAC legs are just 55 minutes long (at 7pm before the UKAC leg on the same band) and teams with just a few participants, scoring just a few contacts can do remarkably well. I don’t usually do the FMACs but decided to give the 2m leg last month a go. And presto! Look where Heckington and District Radio Club is in the league!
Now I’m planning on doing the other legs. If you’re an amateur – fancy giving it a go and getting us up that league? I reckon that with a bit of effort we could make the Top 5 – I managed 900 points (4th) on my own!
